Despite the excitement generated by virtual tours, drone and augmented reality within online imagery, traditional still photography remains the most important component of an online (and offline print) portfolio and gallery.
High quality images are created with the use of a keen sense of composition, professional lighting technique and skilled post production in PhotoShop and Lightroom, all achieved through years of training and practice. Brand guidelines and standards within industries must be strictly adhered to as they are ever changing. An example would be Marriott Hotel’s – MH brand who require the limited use of flash technique and a more natural daylight balance, with room lamps switched off. Other brands such as Hilton & Hyatt prefer room lamps switched on and more flashy techniques to light the rooms. The photographer must be well versed and able to offer exactly what the client is looking for.
Andrew Meli has been working with the leading hotel and hospitality brands for the past 24 years and fully understands the requirements and what is expected of him. He is Marriott approved in North America and EMEA and Hilton & Hyatt approved worldwide. Andrew works with a lot of independent and branded hotels across the UK and Europe with multiple clients in London, Manchester, the Midlands and holiday destinations such as Devon, Cornwall, Dorset & The Lake District.
His photography and experience is not limited to hotels and resorts, but also includes other hospitality sectors such as Restaurants, Bars, Museums, Golf Courses, Cruise Ships, Ski resorts and National Trust Homes and Gardens.
